Fun bar / restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and polite service and delicious food and drink. The deluxe tasting menu was enjoyable. They take card. Bathrooms are unisex.

We ordered the Tasting Menu and for the price, we were left FULL! The cocktails are delicious, I wanted to try all on the menu. The staff were sweet but really hard to get ahold of. We were waiting around for 30 minutes just trying to paying for the bill. The space is great for a date night with a great view of the city. Loved the atmosphere and a great place to celebrate a special occasion!

Ambiance - LA like - its big so when not so many people are there can feel empty. Service - better than the average upscale sf restaurant. Food - pricey but what would you expect its SF. No doubt good place for a date night. - even better for a happy hour. Wait a minute! - not sure how that equals a name for a restaurant?

I will start off by saying, I came here for a holiday party for my friend's business, therefore, we didn't pay for anything! Since I can't take into account price point for this review, the five stars it's strictly based on the quality of food! We got a private room with a tasting menu and everything on it was delicious! Each couple shared each dish (enough for two people) and they even made special accommodations for those who had specific allergies and dietary restrictions. The flavors were extremely rich, but perfectly balanced and not to mention super fresh. My personal favorite was the wagyu and cod! Two things I eat often, but always love to try a different variation of them when I'm visiting a new restauraunt. The room was dimly lit and perfect for a private party. The table was large enough to store your small belongings in front of you, but made it a little hard to talk to those across the table. Keep this in mind if you're looking to book something intimate where you're looking to converse with everyone without getting up! All waiters and waitresses were so sweet and accommodating. They even brought us out to the outdoor balcony so we could get a group picture of all 20(ish) of us. Needless to say, it was a beautiful, special and tasty outing!

The service was awesome, food was great and definitely a vibe here!! The workers were very attentive and very quick. You can get food to share or order from the element part of the menu. Very fulfilling

I've been to Chotto Matte around 6-8 times since they opened and although it was a bit rough in the beginning, they really have improved over time and have delicious food, creative cocktails, and excellent service. The restaurant is quite big and the decor is very modern and cool. The restaurant has a completely different vibe from daytime to nighttime and I'd recommend everyone to check it out for both lunch and dinner! During the day you get the full impact of the floor to ceiling windows and the beautiful views and at night it's more of a moody club atmosphere with a live dj bumping that transports you to Tulum. The food is amazing, I can't remember ever having a bad bite here. Their sushi rolls are my favorite as they're unique from what you'd see on any other sushi menu. The food is all shareable bites so servers always recommend ordering a ton of different things for the table. You really can't go wrong with any of their cocktails but most underrated are their mocktails!!! Truly some of the most delicious mocktails I've ever had!! We cannot stop talking about the Wabi No Sabi! When they opened in the beginning they had a VERY extensive cocktail list but it seems like they have paired it down since then which is much better - less options to have to read through / quicker bar service. The only con about the place really is that it can be a little hard to get into (although I think that was more when it had just opened and it should be easier now) and that it's a bit pricey. Definitely don't expect a cheap bill here especially with the sheer quantity of food you have to order since they're all small bites. But honestly worth it in my opinion for those special occasions or when you want to get a little bite + drinks before going out!

My friend recommended dinner here. I stopped during the week was able to sit before my reservations time. When you first walk in downtown its a nice moment to capture. Then you head upstairs. The vibe here is nice, dim and moody. We opted to sit outside although it was sprinkling they have umbrellas and heater they even brought blankets. Our server was giovanni and he was so amazing. Alot of the dished I dont know the name of because we let him decide. * disclaimer i do not eat raw or not fully cooked food, so the review will be on what i tried not all pictured* drink: lychee martini 10/10 food: black cod aji miso 7/10 amazonian bbq salmon 8/10 purple potatoe mash 7/10 salt and pepper squid 7/10 soft shell crab 7/10 nikkei gyoza 10/10 mochi 9/10 overall nice ambiance, great service. id probably be back for drinks and a couple plates as i am a little more limited since i dont eat raw foods.

A true SF gem that holds the essence of La and NY rooftop dining experiences! The tasting menu is definitely worth the price given the amount and quality of food you get. The ambiance is incredible and I love that they have a live dj. It's a perfect date night spot or a place to host friends from out of town. The service was incredibly attentive whether it came to drinks or ensuring we always had food coming Price: $$-$$$ Must get: tasting menu, octopus, fried chicken Improvement points: I loved every dish although the tuna crispy rice slightly fell short only because I think the rice hadn't been fried to the right texture
